The answer is easy; “I don’t know why, only that God has told me to.” The question is a little harder; “Ryan, why are you making a CD?” Ever since I can remember, God has given me a passion for ministry through singing music that exalts a risen Savior. Singing songs of praise to the One that cared enough to die for us is a way to show gratitude of that marvelous act. The fact that we get to even Worship God should give our hearts an unspeakable joy. Worship defined by one author is described as, “That consuming, selfless desire to give to God is the essence and the heart of worship. It begins with the giving first of ourselves, and then of our attitudes, and then of our possessions -- until worship is a way of life".

At the age of nine, I realized that God had made a perfect place called Heaven. I also realized that I was not perfect and needed an advocate to intercede on my behalf if I was to live there one day. That was when I repented of the bad in my life and asked Jesus to forgive me and reign as Lord. The confidence of knowing that my sins have been forgiven and the assurity of salvation has been a calming peace in my life. When this world is full of uncertainties, knowing that God knows me intimately is comforting.

For those of you who know me know that God has blessed me indeed. In 1998, I married my best friend and high school sweetheart Angela who loves me in spite of my faults. She is a model example of a Proverbs 31 wife and is the perfect helpmate. We have 3 amazing children, Melanie Grace, Audrey Elizabeth, and Reid Clayton that give us so much joy. My prayer is that my children will see in their father a reflection of how much God loves them.

This life is a mere vapor. We all live with regret. Until those of us who belong to God in Christ are made whole, we will regret sin in our lives that displease Him.

In recent days, God has been chastening me about a similar kind of regret, the regret of leaving this temporary life in this earthly vessel and ignoring a calling of God in any area of my life. This is why I chose to record this CD. Through a season of seeking the Lord’s guidance through a difficult time in my life, God speaks. My life’s passion is poured out in the lyrics of these songs so eloquently written by their writers’ about the redeeming work of Christ on the cross. I pray you will find true peace, healing, comfort, joy, and God’s goodness from this project.
